EWBF/EBF Safeguarding Statement
Humberside County Bowling Association believe everyone has the right to live free from abuse or neglect regardless of age, ability or disability, sex, race, religion, ethnic origin, sexual orientation, marital or gender identity.
We are committed to creating and maintaining a safe and positive environment and an open, listening culture where people feel able to share concerns without fear of retribution. Humberside County Bowling Association are committed to creating a culture of zero-tolerance of harm to adults and children which necessitates:
The recognition of adults and children who may be at risk and the circumstances which may increase risk;
Knowing how adult and child abuse manifests itself; and being willing to report safeguarding concerns.
All participants are entitled to feel safe and protected from any form of abuse and neglect. Humberside County Bowling Association acknowledge that safeguarding is everybody’s responsibility and are committed to preventing abuse and neglect by protecting the welfare of all adults and children involved in bowls.
As always I direct you to the Bowls Development Alliance (BDA) for excellent resources to assist you to keep the daiy life of your bowls clubs safe. I would recommend that every club member does the free training course which can be accessed below. There is a form to fill in which is for the BDA to track uptake for statistics purposes, including the Safeguarding Essentials poster for your clubs notice board, this has space to put your local contact details in.
Also the very useful Club Safeguarding Checklist as well as lots of useful forms that help with day to day safeguarding issues, please access the monthly bulletins which you can display on your notice board and change each month Safeguarding Bulletins, remember to get safeguarding on your agendas even if there is little to say
Safeguarding is for everyone to be aware of it’s not just about under 18’s. Many of our members are vulnerable and we need to be conscious of how we can support them.
