SAFEGUARDING

For all safeguarding officers and club secretaries where a club does not have a safeguarding officer

The new season is upon us let’s endeavour to make all our clubs safe and happy environments

Craig Smith the Safeguarding Lead at the BDA is updating the safeguarding policies and hopes to have them ready by July

As always I direct you to the Bowls Development Alliance (BDA) for excellent resources to assist you to keep the daiy life of your bowls clubs safe. I would recommend that every club member does the free training course which can be accessed below. There is a form to fill in which is for the BDA to track uptake for statistics purposes. including the Safeguarding Essentials poster for your clubs notice board, this has space to put your local contact details in. Also the very useful Club Safeguarding Checklist as well as lots of useful forms that help with day to day safeguarding issues

Remember to get safeguarding on your agendas even if there is little to say. Safeguarding is for everyone to be aware of it’s not just about under 18’s. Many of our members are vulnerable and we need to be conscious of how we can support them
